Mica Mountain's Five Pillars of Cheerleading
The Five Pillars of Cheerleading detailed below describe the roles and expectations of our athletes in the classroom, on the field and in the community.
I. AcademicsThe top priority of our student-athletes should always be their academics. Academic eligibility standards set forth by the AIA are considered by the program to be very generous and it is expected that members do not fall academically ineligible.
II. SafetyThe program stresses the need for perfecting technique when executing stunts at all levels. When correct technique is utilized, the possibility of injury is greatly decreased. We believe that all involved play a role in the continued safety of our athletes. Utilize the link at the bottom of this page to read more about our safety expectations.
III. AmbassadorshipMembers of a spirit program serve as ambassadors to their school and community. Cheerleaders are at the forefront of school and athletic events. We must be cognoscente of the power that comes with this role.
IV. SportsmanshipGood sportsmanship should be displayed at all school and athletic events, whether in uniform or not. A showing of good sportsmanship leaves a good impression of our school and program wherever we go.
V. Spirit RaisingIn their most traditional role, cheerleaders serve as spirit raisers for their school. With a clean and powerful game day style, cheerleaders can heighten the excitement and participation level of the crowd.
